250 Manufacturing Engineer – Electrical

Your responsibilities…

As a member of the Manufacturing Engineering team, you will support the transfer of product designs into production and provide a high level of ongoing technical support to the manufacturing team. You will apply your skills and knowledge to identify opportunities for improvement and to design solutions that will maximize manufacturing efficiency and yield, improve product quality, and reduce cost. In addition, you will:

  • be the first point of escalation for manufacturing process and equipment issues
  • design, qualify, and implement new manufacturing and quality control test fixtures and equipment
  • perform process yield and cycle time and efficiency studies to identify opportunities for improvement
  • propose and implement improvements to existing manufacturing processes and equipment
  • generate detailed cycle time and process flow models for manufacturing processes and develop strategies for removing capacity bottlenecks
  • utilize value stream mapping and activity relationship analysis along with other lean methodologies to plan manufacturing workstation layouts that support a lean plant layout
  • identify and communicate workstation utility requirements to the facilities team
  • develop and drive implementation of WIP and finished good product storage solutions
  • work with the design and quality engineering teams to determine the root cause of quality issues
  • provide feedback on product designs to ensure those designs are optimized for manufacturability
  • assist with ongoing product verification test requirements in support of regulatory submissions
  • drive transfer of quality control inspections upstream to the supplier base
  • serve as a process subject matter expert (SME) and assist with identification and delivery of technician training requirements

  • a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, or an equivalent combination of an electrical engineering diploma and relevant experience
  • a minimum of 5 years’ experience in a product development, manufacturing engineering, or new product introduction role involving electronics in a highly regulated manufacturing environment
  • experience with lean manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies
  • an in-depth knowledge and practical understanding of change control management
  • a strong aptitude for complex electromechanical systems
  • an excellent ability to troubleshoot and conduct root cause analysis of product quality issues
  • highly effective interpersonal skills and ability to communicate and coordinate effectively in a multidisciplinary environment
  • the willingness to take on additional responsibilities as appropriate
